Arshad Muhammed from Kochi has won Aviva Young Scholar Nat Geo Junior Hunt. The 13-year-old from Kochi defeated over 4,00,000 children from some 400 reputed schools across 14 cities in India to win the competition.
As part of the gratification, Arshad has been awarded scholarship for higher studies by Aviva. He will also host the Nat Geo Junior shows on the channel for three-months
Aviva Young Scholar Nat Geo Junior Hunt is an initiative taken by Aviva in partnership with the National Geographic Channel to search for the brightest spark in the nation and thereby provide scholarships to minimise financial constraints in the education of talented young kids.
The Hunt had been on for a child that exemplified the spirit of exploration and possessed the ability to look at the world differently. Covering more than 400 schools across India, Aviva Young Scholar Nat Geo Junior Hunt aimed at finding India’s super kid – A child who is Curious; Adventurous; Articulate; Energetic and Smart; in brief, an ALL ROUNDER.
The search for the AYS natgeo Jr began with the ‘Think Again Test’ in 14 cities, led upto city finals where 20 deserving kids were awarded scholarships worth 20k each by Aviva.
About Adventure camp:
Phase III of this hunt was an adventure camp organised exclusively by I Discover I ~ The 20 city finalists embarked on a fascinating journey to Ranikhet.
Here the students were tested by I Discover I judges on various activities:-
Rock Climbing, Valley crossing, Mines and Hurdles, Bullring (A game designed to put the kids under tremendous amount of pressure to judge their leadership skills.)
Over and above this; there were a lot of other warm up games, skits to demonstrate talent (on the theme of green) where all the kids were asked to present a skit on green etc.
At the end of this 4 days camp; the national finalist were shortlisted

· Srionti, The Heritage School Kolkatta
The last leg was a grooming and training session with the British Council in Delhi on 17th March, 2010, from where Arshad emerged as the winner.
