In case you surrender the policy all your policy benefits will cease. You’ll get surrender value of the policy after deducting applicable surrender charges. Charge structure varies from policy to policy. In most cases if surrender is made within the first 3 policy years, the surrender value will be paid after completion of 3 policy years. No. Stopping your premium payments is considered to be a discontinuation of your policy. You will not qualify for any tax rebates.
Under section 80C, you can avail of a maximum benefit of up to Rs 1 lakh on the premium paid towards a pension plan. One maturity, one-third of the maturity amount withdrawn in form of cash is tax-free. The remaining two-third amount used to purchase annuity will be treated as income in the hands of the assessed and taxed accordingly. Please refer to the policy brochures for more details.
